A couple holds their human attacker by the neck; then takes him from the street to a plate.

Clara Brontes longs for a tasty piece of meat. Living integrated into human society, and in disguise, feels unnatural to her, and wishes her kind could go without their rules, but that is unlikely. Although they are at peace, making a mistake could lead to her family’s death.

One night, she is stabbed while strolling with her husband after a concert; they can’t believe their luck. At last, a justified and legal opportunity to let go of her restraints and have a fleshy family dinner; the first for their children. Mortal Encounter

An ex-convict, once a terror for his inmates, screamed through his eyes after the impossibility of making sounds with an oppressed larynx. He was kicking as if swimming in the air was pumping oxygen into him.

“Love, what do we do with him?” asked Thomas.

“He wanted to take my bag from me and stabbed me. I think that is enough excuse to have him on our table. By law we are exempt,” Clara said.

“I agree. I’m hungry and it was about time. Isn’t it better if we do it here? At home, we would have to clean a lot.” He smirked.

“Are you out of your mind? You perfectly know what could happen if a human sees us, and even if we were lucky enough to not get caught, we can’t leave the street dirty.”

“I know, love. I was teasing you. You are the one always complaining about how unfair was our arrangement and saying she should bend the rules to recover our way of living.”

“As if I’m not right.”

“We’ll take this guy with us.”

“Obviously… Anyway, there are only two blocks to go. Here, even if we wanted to, we cannot process him as we should and without washing him before, no way. Besides, we couldn’t walk around all stained in red.”

“Okay, you’re right, but first, let’s take the photos in case they question us. We must send them to the Interspecies Rights Department.”

Clara extracted the phone from her bag and took photos of the area in night mode. The photographs included the spot where the human attacked them and also the surroundings of where Thomas was, still with the robber suspended by the neck.

“Hey! Let him breathe a bit, he is kicking no more.”

“Whoops! Sorry, my dear. These beings are very fragile. Don’t worry, his chest is still moving.”

“Goodness. You know I like them fresh.”

“And me. By the way, will you hold him for a moment? We have to take photos of your wound. I’m thinking we should call the auditors at once.”

Thomas handed the human to his wife, like someone passing a token in a race. She continued to hold him by the neck, although with more subtlety so as not to spoil him so much. Clara, being a little shorter than her seven feet tall husband, made the tips of the criminal’s feet brushed the ground.
