I felt lonely and bored. While I was catching up with what my friends posted on Facebook, I ran into a dating app. It offered an unparalleled connection and made me curious, so I installed it and filled up all the data requested (my romantic CV). Later on, many guys knocked on my virtual door, but only one interested me.
We talked and saw each other through the App. A week later, I felt confident to propose to see each other in person. Still, before that, I wanted to revisit his profile. In doing so, I discovered much more information than before; it was related to our conversation topics; it was as if he had taken notes of what we said. That upset me; I didn’t know what to think.
I accessed my profile; I considered to remove him, but then I noticed that there was an update I did not do, and I thoroughly checked it. My profile was like his: Full of notes of our virtual meetings with images of each day when we spoke. Maybe it was warned in the terms and conditions I accepted without reading. I worried and contacted him; he was online in the App. Seeing his profile and mine surprised him.
We agreed to uninstall the snoopy App, but first, we set the place, date, and time to meet and exchanged email addresses. When we finished talking, I started to uninstall the App. By pressing “uninstall” the camera and the LED light were activated in “selfie” mode, in black and white. There was no way to interrupt what the phone was doing. “It hung, I will turn it off,” I thought. Nor was it possible to turn it off. Without realizing it, I was losing my colors while my image was getting colored on the screen. Suddenly, I saw myself holding the phone, increasingly pale, becoming translucent. When I turned around, I saw him; we were speechless.
If you are reading this, it is because the App was installed on your mobile or computer, perhaps without realizing it. Welcome!
